Bringing a child into the world and into a family is a most precious event, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to welcome your child in a Welcoming Ceremony. I am a mother of two grown children and two grandchildren living in the Ottawa Valley and enjoy expressing myself through poetry and art. Other hobbies are reading, gardening and fishing. I have always been eager to help people so I trained and worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Grace Hospital in Ottawa. My wish to continue learning, combined with wanting to be creative, led me to train in Event Planning at Algonquin College. I would be thrilled to be able to assist you and your family with this very special magical event.
Rox Chwaluk
“What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.” – Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet) I bring passion and energy to each naming ceremony that I perform. I am fluent in Ukrainian, extremely open-minded, generous, and kind. I’m a graduate from Brock University with a Master of Education.I am also the most recent winner of the two most prestigious awards which recognize those who best exemplify qualities of Leadership, Courage, Innovation, Inspiration and Community Involvement. I do agree with Shakespeare, however, the name we are given at birth is the first step in creating our identity and building a child’s self-esteem. This is the first notion of who we are, and who we will become.

I have been a long time resident of the Carleton Place area where I raised my family of 3 sons. It would be an honour and privilege to conduct a naming ceremony or baptism, to celebrate the precious gift of a new child in your family. I am an experienced motivational speaker and I have been told that people remember my Scottish brogue! It adds something a wee bit different to the occasion. The ceremony will be heart-felt and personal expressing your love and commitment to your child.
Rev. Ed Montano
Ed lives in the Ottawa area with his wife (and best friend) and their dog (admittedly, a very spoiled dog!). He's perfectly bilingual in English and Spanish, and he could also perform your baptism or naming ceremony in basic French. Ed is an ordained priest with the United Free Catholic Church and holds his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity degrees. His time is shared as Church Administrator, a hospital chaplain, and other community priestly duties. Fr. Ed understands that this ceremony is important and should be a most memorable one to you and your family. Ed loves reading, doing research, and writing. He is also blessed with a musical family, playing musical instruments and singing. Both he and his wife love golf, even though you will probably never see him on the PGA Tour!
Baptism Stories
The welcoming ceremony had a personal quality, with the beautiful poem and readings, that made it special for us as parents. The extra TLC you added to the ceremony made it extra special. You were warm and friendly, organized and thoughtful and we would have you back anytime! Thanks again for a wonderful memory!
